Account Deletion Policy

Important Warning

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Please read this policy carefully before proceeding.

1. How to Delete Your Account

For Users:

  1. Log in to your account
  2. Go to Account Settings
  3. Click on "Security & Privacy"
  4. Scroll to "Delete Account" section
  5. Click "Delete My Account"
  6. Confirm your password
  7. Provide optional feedback
  8. Click final confirmation button

For Venue Owners:

  1. Complete or cancel all active bookings
  2. Settle all outstanding payments
  3. Submit 30-day notice via partner dashboard
  4. Remove or download venue data if needed
  5. Confirm deletion after notice period

You can also request account deletion by emailing privacy@sporthub.com with your account email and reason for deletion.

2. What Gets Deleted

Permanently Deleted:

  • Profile information (name, photo, bio)
  • Account credentials (email, password)
  • Saved preferences and settings
  • Favorite venues and saved searches
  • Communication history (messages, notifications)
  • Reviews and ratings you posted
  • Loyalty points and credits
  • Payment methods on file

Retained for Legal/Accounting:

  • Transaction records (typically 7 years)
  • Booking history (for dispute resolution)
  • Tax-related information
  • Legal compliance data
  • Anonymized analytics data

3. Processing Timeline

Immediate (Day 0)

Account deactivated - you cannot log in

Grace Period (Days 1-30)

Account can be restored by contacting support

Permanent Deletion (Day 30)

All personal data permanently deleted - cannot be recovered

4. Requirements Before Deletion

You CANNOT delete your account if:

  • You have upcoming bookings (complete or cancel them first)
  • You have outstanding payments or refunds pending
  • You're involved in an active dispute
  • There's an ongoing investigation into your account
  • You have unfulfilled contractual obligations (for owners)

For Venue Owners:

  • 30-day notice period required
  • All bookings must be completed or canceled
  • Final payment settlement must be processed
  • Active subscriptions must be canceled

5. Consequences of Deletion

Permanent Loss of:

  • All booking history and records
  • Earned loyalty points or credits
  • Venue owner reputation and reviews
  • Saved payment methods
  • Favorite venues and preferences
  • Access to past receipts and invoices
  • Username (cannot be reused)

6. Restoring a Deleted Account

During Grace Period (30 days):

  • Contact support immediately
  • Verify your identity
  • Account can be fully restored
  • All data will be recovered

After 30 Days:

  • Account cannot be restored
  • Data is permanently deleted
  • You can create a new account with the same email
  • Previous history will not be available

7. Impact on Active Bookings

As a User:

  • Future bookings will be automatically canceled
  • Refunds issued according to cancellation policy
  • Venues will be notified of cancellations
  • You'll receive final confirmation emails

As a Venue Owner:

  • Must complete all confirmed bookings
  • Future bookings reassigned or canceled
  • Users will be notified and offered alternatives
  • Listings removed from platform immediately

8. Data Export Before Deletion

Before deleting your account, you can download:

  • Booking history (PDF)
  • Transaction records (CSV)
  • Reviews you've written
  • Personal information on file
  • Venue data (for owners)

Access the data export tool in Account Settings → Privacy → Download My Data

9. Third-Party Data

  • We'll notify payment processors to remove your data
  • Google/social login connections will be revoked
  • Marketing lists will be updated
  • Third parties have their own retention policies

10. Alternatives to Deletion

Consider these alternatives:

  • Deactivate Temporarily: Keep account but disable access
  • Update Privacy Settings: Control data sharing and communications
  • Unsubscribe from Emails: Stop marketing emails without deleting
  • Remove Payment Methods: Delete saved cards but keep account
  • Contact Support: Discuss concerns before deciding

11. Legal Rights

Under data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Receive confirmation when deletion is complete
  • File a complaint with data protection authorities
  • Understand what data is retained and why

Make sure you've downloaded any data you want to keep, canceled any active subscriptions, and understand that this action is permanent after 30 days. We're sorry to see you go!
